Frequently Asked Questions

How is Yoga Therapy different from a regular yoga class? What can I expect out of our sessions?

Yoga Therapy uses the comprehensive tools of yoga to work therapeutically with recovery from injury and illness, and to build overall wellbeing. Our sessions are one-on-one and include in-depth assessment, education, and skilled guidance in personalized practices tailored to your unique needs. Like yoga classes you may be familiar with, we utilize movement, breath, and awareness practices among our tools; however, we also work with thought patterns, emotions, nutrition, relationships, life purpose, and supporting habit and change to restore resilience.

Do I need to have previous experience with yoga to benefit from Yoga Therapy?

No, because our work is entirely tailored to meet you where you are, you will benefit whether it's your first exposure to yoga or you've been practicing for decades.

Can I still do Yoga Therapy if I have an injury or physical limitation?

Yes, I work with many patients to address both acute and chronic injuries, as well as with different baseline abilities. Depending on your needs, I utilize techniques for optimizing movement patterns, neuromuscular connection, and tissue healing.

Does Yoga Therapy offer me a quick cure?

No, just like other physical therapies, Yoga Therapy requires that you're willing to do the work outside appointments to integrate practices in a meaningful and sustained way. It is not a good fit for those looking for a quick fix.

How many sessions are needed before seeing a difference?

There is no one-size-fits-all approach, even between individuals coming in with the same conditions. That said, some degree of follow up is integral, and as a part of our initial consultation, we'll establish a plan to fit your needs.

Do I need a referral to receive therapy?

No, though I encourage a strong relationship with your primary care provider and suggest you let them know you're working with me.

Is Yoga Therapy a replacement for other types of medical care?

No, Yoga Therapy is not meant to take the place of your regular or emergency medical care. It is a highly effective complementary therapy that supports you in working with health needs identified with your providers. As a Yoga Therapist, I neither diagnose nor prescribe; I empower you with tools to move towards and sustain personal wellbeing.

How do I schedule appointments?

Please contact me by phone or email to schedule your individualized healing.

When do you offer appointments?

My primary clinical days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, though we can schedule other days, including weekends, upon arrangement.

Where do I go for appointments?

Bend Yoga Therapy's private studio is nestled in a garden near downtown Bend. The studio is designed to support safe, peaceful healing and includes a yoga mat, a private and clean gender-neutral restroom, and a full suite of therapeutic tools for your use. Wear comfortable, unrestrictive clothing that allows you to move and breath with ease. Please refrain from wearing fragrances to help keep the studio a safe and healthy space for those with sensitivities. You're welcome to bring a mat if you choose, though we have a fully outfitted studio with all you'll need for therapeutic practice.

Do you take insurance?

No, I do not direct bill insurance. However, I accept HSA cards which works well for many patients with high deductible plans.
